Fringe! Queer Film & Arts Fest

October 15, 2019News

Stinkhorn is an official selection of Fringe! Queer Film & Arts Fest in East London, UK. It screens in the shorts program “A Whole New World With You” on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Stoke Hewington Town Hall. Here’s the description of the program:

Queer people have always imagined a world different from our own where we can live and love freely. The oft quoted Jose Munoz’ ‘Cruising…’ says, ‘Queerness is not here yet’, and in these trying times, LGBTIQA+ folk lovingly remind one another that imagining a positive future, a brave new world, is necessary for survival. So is laughter; so are experiments. It’s necessary to feed and care for our minds and souls, especially precious in a climate of inhumanity in mainstream culture and society. These films employ joy to seek out new ways of being, forge new and celebratory spaces to inhabit, and throw away the rule book, forcing us to dream big. Here is home.

April 19, 2019News

Fairy Fantastic! Presents: Friends of Dorothy as part of Stonewall 50: A Gender Inclusive Celebration for Families at the Andy Warhol Museum at 11am on Saturday June 29.

Our program, Friends of Dorothy is a special celebratory program of nine short animated and live action films on difference-affirming, gender creative and anti-bullying themes.  Why are all of Alexa’s favorite things, like car-shaped beds, super balls, and soccer called “boy things?” Can a barber shop be a doorway to a dreamland? What’s it like to be the only boy ballerina? How do you know if someone “gets you?” The answers to these and many more questions can be found in Friends of Dorothy. The short films in Friends of Dorothy are moving, hilarious, beautiful and inventive visions of a gender inclusive world that will delight all ages.
